About: r. Barahika John Bosco is an appointed community Representative of Uganda Virus Research Institute,Research Ethics Committee(UVRI-REC) and currently working with “THE AIDS SUPPORT ORGANISATION” (TASO) Uganda Ltd. as Client Relations Officer, at TASO Mulago, represents People leaving with HIV/AIDS on TASO management and is an Expert TASO client. TASO) Uganda Ltd is an indigenous non-governmental organization contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease. He has been introduced to some short courses that have enabled him to understand a frame work that involves application of established scientific, professional norms and ethical principles in performance of some activities related to scientific research. He is a trained processional HIV/AIDS counselor, with experience in HIV/AIDS advocacy matters concerning communities affected by HIV/AIDS and is an appointed community representative, a lay member of Uganda Virus Research Institute-Institutional Review Committee (UVRI-IRC), who attends monthly UVRI-IRC meetings and participates in reviewing research proposals, amendments,and progress reports. He has shown leadership and significantly contributed to improving standards and practice of research ethics to protect the safety and welfare of research participants. He is also recognized member in human research participant protection and participated in UVRI-PABIN Human research participant Protection training and Uganda Virus Research Institute-Institutional Review Committee (UVRI-IRC) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) development. OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS Principles and practices in Anti-Retroviral Therapy.(ART) Knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, support and Advocacy for People living With HIV and communities affected by HIV/AIDS Speaks English, with good oral, reading and writing communication skills.
