What are your views on laboratory harmonization?

Do you agree with the notion that laboratory harmonization should not only include procedures and uniformity of results, but also other aspects of laboratory testing such as terminology and units, reference intervals, sample collection and handling, reporting, etc.?

What do you think about the proposed list of laboratory quality indicators produced in a Consensus Conference organized in Italy last year and based on the model of quality indicators (MQI) developed by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC)?

Thank you for your contributions!
