The following two reviews present the developments in diagnostic technologies for typhoid fever. 

Background document: The diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of typhoid fever

This 2003 WHO document gives an overview of the biology behind Typhoid and its causative agent, as well as the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of typhoid fever. Chapter 2 on diagnostics specifically looks at microbiological and serological procedures, susceptibility testing, storage of typhoid fever organisms, and quality control.

The utility of diagnostic tests for enteric fever in endemic locations

In this review, Parry et al. (2011) discuss the array of currently used diagnostics targetting enteric fever in endemic locations, and suggest new technologies which may improve enteric fever diagnostics in the near future.
